This project was a landmark public transport initiative of the Queensland Government. The first Integrated Regional Transport Plan for South East Queensland recommended that a 75km network of busway corridors be developed to complement Brisbane’s heavy rail network. The South East Busway was the first of these busways to be approved and built. The busway incorporates 17km of grade separated bus-only carriageway and 10 high-quality stations.
