Integrated Transport & Land Use - Inner City Strategy

GCI prepared the ITALICS report for the Queensland Government, in consultation with Brisbane City Council. This study provided a holistic and integrated analysis of a range of targeted transport and land use investigations that had been previously undertaken for inner Brisbane. ITALICS provided a coordinated vision for the development of land use and transport infrastructure planning in inner Brisbane to 2031 with a 50-year horizon for infrastructure provision.

our services

  • Identified and analysed a range of options for Brisbane’s growth and presented a preferred inner city strategy
  • Identified where the functions in the transport system overlapped, where deficiencies existed, and how gaps could be addressed in a coordinated way that aligned with a preferred land use development pattern for the inner city with a 50-year timeframe

our achievements

  • Developed and managed three workshops which brought together the key agencies responsible for land use and transport planning for Brisbane
  • This work has helped inform the draft Connecting SEQ 2031, the Cross River Rail project and a range of other planning documents and strategies.
